The "Menzi variety"of black pepper is very popular in the Philippines. It can be propagated by single nodal cutting system through columnar method and bush pepper production. Good nursery practices is undertaken to propagate quality planting materials especially free from Phytophora disease.
In our farm, some of the native black pepper accessions show moderate resistance to Phytophora disease, which are the on-going project of the farm.
